*Nathan Bak points out that this story predated the Hardy Boys
by six years. I meant only that it is a boys' adventure story rather than
a searching psychological portrayal of Japanese expatriates. I certainly
wouldn't question Ryunosuke's originality, even in the stories that are
taken from known sources.
